Blocklords, one of the most anticipated Web3 games in development, is letting the first wave of players through its gates in a month-long community beta.
Blocklords has been a long time coming and it’s over a year since we first took a look at the project. Now, players can finally try the game in a community beta event that will run until 10th June 2023. Furthermore, the top 100 players at the end of the beta, based on experience gained, will be inducted into the coveted Founders Society.
In addition to the overall challenge, there will be several mini-events both inside and outside of the game where players can earn $IMX.
What Is Blocklords?
Blocklords is one of the most ambitious Web3 games we have seen so far. Although I often compare it to Total War or Age of Empires, in actuality, it’s more complicated than that. It is a medieval, strategy MMO with a fully player-owned economy and permadeath. There is PvP, building, farming, politics, and an interesting bloodline mechanic where you must have an heir to carry on your legacy.
BLOCKLORDS gives players full freedom to shape their own legacy. Each choice players make will have a direct impact on their character, the people and players around them, and even the kingdom itself! Players can further expand their legacy and mark on the world through the game’s unique Dynasty system, allowing the traits, consequences, and rewards of previous characters to continue through their own unique bloodline.
— Immutable on Blocklords
Blocklords is on Immutable — one of our favorite Web3 gaming ecosystems — and has two fundamental components for success in this space: experience and backers. The team behind the project at MetaKing Studios is 100-strong and has backgrounds at EA and Ubisoft, among others. When it comes to partners and backers, they have BITKRAFT, Animoca Brands, Polygon, ImmutableX, SPARTAN, Square Enix, KRAFTON, Yield Guild, and more — this isn’t an indie project.
