Web3 MMA PvP Fighting Game Announced by Animoca Brands

AI Summary

ONE Championship, Animoca Brands, and Notre Game have partnered to create ONE Fight Arena, an NFT-powered mobile game featuring martial artists from ONE’s roster. The free-to-play game will begin player testing in Q4 2023, with a global launch in Q1 2024. It will focus on strategic gameplay and offer a unique gaming experience with Web3 integration, allowing players to have true digital ownership of game assets through blockchain technology and NFTs. The game will be available on Google Play and Apple’s App Store, with non-Web3 players still able to enjoy the game without digital asset ownership.

Animoca Brands, ONE Championship, and Notre Game Announce ONE Fight Arena

Animoca Brands is omnipresent in Web3, enriching areas left, right, and center, particularly in gaming. In a recent announcement, Animoca Brands released the details of a new partnership with ONE Championship and Notre Game. ONE Championship is one of the most popular mixed martial arts organizations, particularly in its home country of Singapore, though it has a global following of over 400 million fans.

Notre Game, now a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, is a game studio founded in 2016, based in Czech Republic. The team has decades of experience in the games industry and the company is newly focused on bringing Web3 games to the masses through the mobile market.

Our partnership with ONE to create ONE Fight Arena will enable the fans of the world’s largest martial arts organization to access a novel gaming experience with true digital ownership at its core. We look forward to assisting ONE to more closely connect with its fans in deep and meaningful ways.

— Yat Siu, Co-founder and Executive Chairman, Animoca Brands

Details on how ONE Fight Arena will play are still a little sparse, but there are plenty of hints that this title will not be a button-mashing fighting game. Although ONE Fight Arena is PvP, it will be “slightly slower, easy-to-learn, but hard to master” and focused more on strategy and tactics. That said, it will be 3D and fully licensed to include the league’s fighters. There will be athlete management, as well as player and athlete progression. To complement the PvP focus, we will also see a full PvP system with matchmaking, tournaments, and leagues.

As always, I am a touch hesitant when it comes to a game that has no gameplay footage yet as you cannot garner much of use from website and marketing copy. That said, Animoca Brands is a safe bet and ONE Championship is unlikely to throw their IP around without thought. The closed beta will begin in Q4 2023 with the predicted official launch in Q1 2024.
