In December 2021, we predicted where we might be in December 2022. So, it’s time to revisit those and make some new predictions for December 2023.
Token Gamer and NFT Insider have decided to combine forces to launch a weekly podcast, Mint One (formerly WAX Lyrical). John Nichols of NFT Insider and I will discuss a new topic every week, as well as feature special guests. If there’s a topic you’d like us to cover, make sure you let us know through the Token Gamer Discord or Twitter, or the NFT Insider Discord or Twitter.
In last week’s episode, John and I discuss what the viral AI software, ChatGPT, could mean for Web3. This week, we revisit our predictions for 2022 that we made in December 2021. Strap in.
Mint One, Episode 50: The Results of Our 2022 Predictions
I was partly dreading relistening to the episode from last December. We were flying, setting new all-time highs and the graphs were all green. I remember a conversation behind-the-scenes at Token Gamer where we worried about when the bull market would end and what steps we need to make to survive the next bear. It’s hard to truly imagine a gargantuan downturn when there had been so much mainstream adoption, however.
Most of my predictions were wildly optimistic, but I did add an important caveat: unless some huge event derails things. Well, that’s exactly what happened, just not one derailing event, but several. This has left us deep in a bear market, so low that without knowledge of LUNA and FTX prior to it happening, it wouldn’t have been sensible to predict based on available evidence.
This year, I am making predictions for December 2023 and what’s interesting is John and I are in the polar opposite position to December 2021; our last predictions were made in the height of crypto summer and now we’re predicting 12 months from now based on the brutal winter. See you in a year to discuss gargantuan and industry moving events there is no way I could have predicted when writing this!
