One of the most exciting games on the near horizon in Web3 is The Harvest. This week, the team is unlocking the gates for open beta.
2023 has a plethora of top-tier, blockchain-based games either going into early access or fully launching. If, like me, you have resistant friends who appreciate true ownership of in-game assets, but don’t think any Web3 game is worth their time currently, you might be able to sway them.
What Is The Harvest?
The Harvest is a class-based, third-person, MOBA shooter on both the Solana and Binance Smart Chain blockchains. You can buy NFTs cards or earn them for free in-game, allowing you to choose your abilities and decks for each game. NFT cards can be upgraded and the RNG elements with stats make for interesting depth.
I first saw The Harvest on Fractal and it had the quality necessary to catch my eye. The gameplay initially reminded me of Scavangers, the ill-fated survival battle royale, but blended with the ill-fated Unreal Engine MOBA, Paragon. Despite their shared fate, both Scavengers and Paragon were superb and the comparison I draw is high praise, I promise.
The Harvest looks like a genuinely high-quality game, which isn’t as common as one might hope in Web3. Although I haven’t seen The Harvest label themselves “AAA” as so many do, they might well get away with it; the gameplay is crisp and accurate, the art style is consistent and pleasing, and the polish appears to be in all the right places.

This week, we will be jumping in and gathering our thoughts on the project for a larger video. If you want to give it a whirl, you can jump in on Steam by clicking here. Open beta runs from today (30th January 2023) until 6th February 2023, so make the most of your window to try it! All you need to do is “Request Access” to the Playtest which will be instantly granted.
The announcement from The Harvest team does suggest you will receive a crate with NFTs in it for participating in the open beta week. How that is possible with the game on Steam is unknown and hopefully, it doesn’t put the game at risk of being delisted. The Harvest may walk the same path as Superior which has Web2 and Web3 versions of the game that are interoperable, we shall see.
For now, grab your chance to play and we’ll see you in there!
