STEPN Devs, Find Satoshi Lab, to Launch Social MMO, Gas Hero

"The lore of the game is based on the possibly prophetic notion that the world has been taken over by AI, but with the optimistic timeline of 2084. With an estimated launch of later in 2023, Gas Hero might release before the game is listed under the genre of 'Simulator'."

The team behind the popular Stepn web3 game has its next project well underway: a mobile, social MMO called Gas Hero.

Find Satoshi Lab is a web3 product development studio with a pedigree for creating popular blockchain-based projects. STEPN, for the uninitited, was one of the first and the most popular of the Move-to-Earn craze. Although there are likely many reasons why STEPN and Find Satoshi Lab are impressive, one recent accolade sticks in my mind: STEPN became the first blockchain game to integrate Apple pay.

Find Satoshi Lab doesn’t just produce web3 games either. In the current product suite alongside STEPN is DOOAR, a multi-chain, decentralized exchange with 460,000 monthly active users, and MOOAR, a multi-chain NFT marketplace. Now, there is another addition and it’s arguably their first “traditional” game.

What Is Gas Hero?

Gas Hero is a web3, social MMO for mobile. What that means is it is similar in scope to some of the Clash of Clan type games that had a major hand in popularizing mobile gaming, as well as onboarding many new players. Hoping to replicate that success with onboaring to web3, Gas Hero is built on the foundations of “Battle and Earn”.

The lore of the game is based on the possibly prophetic notion that the world has been taken over by AI, but with the optimistic timeline of 2084. With an estimated launch of later in 2023, Gas Hero might release before the game is listed under the genre of “Simulator”.

Although we do not have much in the way of gameplay yet, there is one announcement I want to draw attention to: the Genesis Heroes Design Competition Phase 1. 16 of the game’s heroes are announced with their codenames and there is a call for entries to design the appearance and the backstory. In total, 320 winners will be selected, getting 2084 $GMT (Find Satoshi Lab’s token), some branded gear, but most interesting to me and in keeping with web3, 2% perpetual NFT creator royalties. Yes, you could argue they are cleverly outsourcing a portion of the art work, but budget-wise, I suspect this would have been inconsequential anyway!

If you were one of the millions to become utterly consumed in mobile social MMOs, you might want to join Gas Hero’s Discord to stay in the loop.
