In the latest Blockchain Game Alliance and DappRadar industry report, some interesting statistics show Polygon surging up the ranks in Web3 gaming, joining WAX in UAW dominance.
The Blockchain Game Alliance and DappRadar reports are as good as it gets for staying in the know about our industry. March’s report shows a lot I suspected to be the case, but couldn’t be sure, including Polygon’s fast ascent.
WAX’s quiet dominance is something I have written about before, with the full 2022 report showing just how strong the chain is with regard to UAW (Unique Active Wallets) and transaction count. However, Polygon has been in almost the opposite situation: they have had some of the loudest and most publicized partnerships in the space (Reddit, Starbucks) but when it comes to gaming, they haven’t had the players yet. Well, that’s changing quickly.
Now, these statistics can be a little misleading. You might say that Polygon hasn’t separated from the pack in UAW dominance because it’s so close to Hive, and while you’re right on paper, 99% of Hive’s UAWs are Splinterlands. I like Hive, but they need to do what Ronin has done and draft in some more games to be considered a more competitive blockchain gaming ecosystem (and I hope they do!)
Polygon’s ascent has been in large part attributed to BoomLand which has gone parabolic with the launch of its testnet (which, by the way, was halfway through March!). However, Polygon has been growing its roster of blockchain games for some time. This is without mentioning Polygon partnering with Immutable X for the Web3 gaming chain, Immutable zkEVM which will undoubtedly be a powerhouse.
Token Gamer App Launches Beta for Major Update, Partners With Polygon
If you’ve found your way into this article, I have some news for you. You may or may not know, Token Gamer is a WAX guild and block producer. We saw WAX’s pedigree for gaming early and we wanted to build an app so that players could see the latest news and browse their wallet analytics, check the value of their NFTs, see their token balances, and so on. We also added push notifications for transactions on each wallet you track.
We have been thrilled by the daily users, how long users are on the app for, and the feedback we’ve had for notifications. However, we want the app to be the ultimate companion for Web3 gamers and so last year, we began looking at which other blockchains would be useful to add alongside WAX. We chose Polygon (and didn’t we choose well!) and reached out to them. We partnered with Polygon soon after and began working on a major update.
Well, we have now rolled out the beta client and we need your help. If you have a Polygon wallet, we would love for you to test this beta and let us know if it works as well as the WAX side of the app. Important thing to note: you perform no transactions in the app whatsoever, it simply tracks a wallet address, so there’s no risk to your assets.
To download the app, click here for Android, and click here for iOS.
