P2E Game, Nyan Heroes, Aims to Save ‘1 Billion Cats’ From Euthanization at Shelters

"However, I will make this pledge: no matter how big Token Gamer gets, we will always cover organizations related to blockchain gaming who do well by doing good."

When it comes to blockchain gaming and the metaverse, I am hopelessly optimistic about the good it can do. We have had a taste of that with Play to Earn (P2E) games in particular over the last 12-18 months, courtesy of Axie Infinity in the Philippines. But, this was something of a happy accident that Axie Infinity thankfully leaned into.

This is an area I am always on the lookout for and will discuss a lot: doing well by doing good. That is, achieving success in our space by improving the situations of others. Earlier this week I reported on how Yield Guild Games and their community raised over $1.4m for the victims of Typhoon Odette, also in the Philippines.

Then, late last year we highlighted Senzu World, a P2E adventure RPG in which 20% of the profits was donated to the charity One Tree Planted. And there are more cases of doing well by doing good that I am yet to find, I’m sure.

    What is Nyan Heroes?

Nyan Heroes is a P2E NFT game built on the Solana Blockchain. It is a third-person shooter that will have various game modes, from PvE adventures to PvP battle royale. The game has some fantastic industry talent working on it, but at present, we do not have any gameplay footage to go on. The alpha release is scheduled for Q4 2022, but there is a lot to keep you interested in the meantime.

Nevertheless, as is the modern way with blockchain gaming, up-front funding comes from different avenues and it comes thick and fast. Thankfully, Nyan Heroes is proving to be a worthy recipient and has set off on an altruistic course.

In an interview with Cointelegraph, Wendy Huang, co-founder of Nyan Heroes said she is hoping to save 1 billion cats from euthanization in animal shelters. This has started strongly with a $250,000 donation to Best Friends, a no-kill animal sanctuary.

    Do Well by Doing Good

We are regularly contacted by people in and around blockchain gaming looking for free promotion; you are highly unlikely to be successful. However, I will make this pledge: no matter how big Token Gamer gets, we will always cover organizations related to blockchain gaming who do well by doing good.

If you work in blockchain gaming — whether a game, a developer, or something else entirely — and you’re doing good, get in touch, I’ll personally give you free press.
