In September of 2021, we looked at Gala Games after their token, $GALA, was listed on Binance. Gala Games is a play for the metaverse by co-founder of Zynga, Eric Schiermeyer, and already has some promising titles in the works. There are two notable projects that interest us. The first is Townstar, which is a browser-based simulation game, similar to what is popular in the Play to Earn scene currently. The second is Mirandus, a fantasy RPG with a unique and appealing art style.
The Gala Games $100m Game Development Fund
Gala Games has a strong initiative for incorporating more games into its metaverse in the form of a $100m fund. This fund has its money allocated to projects based on what Gala’s community votes for. To vote, you must own and run a Gala Node, which is central to Gala’s ecosystem as a metaverse.
As part of the Gala Games strategy to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the blockchain space while also supporting grassroots indie game development studios, we are happy to present for your consideration the next game to join our ecosystem: FASTR!
Gala Games
The recent proposal put to the Gala Node owners is that of FASTR. The voting ends tonight and if the majority votes for FASTR to be inducted, they will receive $1,000,000 USD from Gala Games to aid in the development of the game.
FASTR: A Tactical, 5v5 FPS
FASTR is currently only pre-alpha, so what there is to play and show is extremely basic. However, the fundamentals of the game are clear: it is heading for a Counter Strike or Rainbow Six style game. This 5v5, tactical first-person shooter is being developed by Melbourne Interactive Studios, a young, indie development team. Nevertheless, the team isn’t particularly small and are looking to have their first title released in 2022.
Gala Games is a metaverse I am keenly watching and their fund supporting “grassroots, indie game development” is exactly what I want to see.
